LNESC Corpus Christi

LNESC Corpus Christi has served Corpus Christi, Texas, and the surrounding area since 1973, dedicating itself to increasing educational opportunities for minority and low-income students by developing and implementing comprehensive programs within the community. In its 48-year history, LNESC Corpus Christi has assisted over 55,000 Coastal Bend area students in the journey toward enrolling in an appropriate postsecondary educational program and has helped them in receiving approximately $85,000,000 in Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Developing Lifelong Learners

LNESC Corpus Christi provides participants educational services in their preparation for college entrance. Currently the Upward Bound program is providing 65 participants attending Moody High School, Miller High School and Cesar Chaves Charter High School fundamental support in their preparation for college entrance.

Upward Bound

A FREE, federally funded TRiO program designed to provide opportunities for eligible high schools students to succeed in their pre-college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Offered at Miller HS and Moody HS.

Provides academic counseling, college/university mentorship through one-on-one advising and workshops, and career advising for students eligible and enrolled in the program. Offered at 8 high schools in Corpus Christi.

Young Readers

This program is a highly interactive and family-oriented academic year-long course designed to instill a love of reading at an early age, and improve reading skills among K-2 students.

Talent Search has had such a positive impact on my life. This program has helped me grow as a person and pushed me in the right direction of becoming the person I hope to be. It has taught me how to overcome the challenges that I may experience throughout life and adequately handle them. It has given me the courage to go after my dreams and stand up for what I believe. The experiences that I have gratefully been able to go through due to this organization are some that I will never forget. Through Talent Search, I have met great new friends with similar aspirations, which has been so motivational. Talent Search has given me the chance to meet such fantastic, encouraging people who only want the best for me and are only looking to succeed and be the best possible person I can be. This organization has helped shape my future positively, and I am grateful I got the chance to be a part of it.

Upward bound taught me many things that I will keep for the rest of my life. It taught me that I could achieve anything. The LNESC staff are the absolute best at leading you in the right direction and helping guide you. The Director of this program was also the best at helping guide, teach and help you with anything you needed. The summer program was a fun perk of this program, getting to make new friends, some who have become lifelong friends, visit many fun places, and keep your mind fresh for the following school year. I’m so thankful for Upward Bound and how it helped shape me into who I am today. I made many memories throughout this program. I’m glad I joined this fantastic program my freshman year of high school! It was one of my best decisions!
